Viscose rugs with delicate weft yarn are suitable for domestic use in low and medium-traffic indoor areas where there is no risk of dirt and liquids getting on the rug.
Some slight shedding may occur with brand new viscose rugs.
Rotate the rug occasionally, to ensure even wear.
The base of silkyViscose rugs has anti-slip properties. For optimal results, we recommend using the Narma anti-slip rug underlay METRO.
The rug can also be used in rooms with hydronic underfloor heating.
Direct strong sunlight may cause the rug to fade.
Care & Cleaning
Vacuum the rug regularly to remove dust and dirt.
Always use a plain, no-brush vacuum cleaner nozzle. Brushes or rotating turbo nozzles may wear off or damage the rug surface.
Liquid stains should be removed as quickly as possible with a paper towel, clean sponge or soft cloth to prevent the liquids from soaking into the rug. Avoid rubbing the rug surface.
Use water to remove stains only when absolutely necessary, as the texture and colour of the weft yarn may change in contact with water.
For best results, a little lemon juice or vinegar can be added to the stain removal water.
Local cleaning may result in shrinkage of the fabric and slight curling of the rug surface.
For stubborn stains and general cleaning use a professional cleaning service.
After the initial surface cleaning, the viscose material becomes slightly denser and rougher.
The rug should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated room.
Questions & Answers
Question: Textile dust is shedding from the surface of a new viscose rug. Is this normal? Answer: All surfaces woven from natural materials (viscose, wool, cotton, etc) are characterised by some shedding of broken fibres from the cutting surface of the yarn.
In the early stages of use of a viscose rug, the shedding of fibres is more intense, but it gradually decreases and depends partly on the intensity of the use and cleaning of the rug.
Loose fibres can be removed with a vacuum cleaner. The pile surface of the rug should only be cleaned with a no-brush vacuum cleaner nozzle, as a vacuum cleaner nozzle with strong bristles will break the cutting surface of the yarn and increases the shedding of fibres and may spoil the appearance of the rug.
Question: The surface colour of a viscose rug is sometimes uneven. Is this a product defect? Answer: The unevenly reflective silky rug surface is a luxurious feature unique to viscose yarn, which is why this type of rug is highly valued. Before using the rug, the pile yarns are evenly distributed across the entire rug surface, making the rug appear lighter at one end than at the other. During the use and maintenance, the position of the weft yarns changes and patches of different tones are formed on the rug surface, the colour of which depends on the current position of the weft yarns in relation to the light source and the viewer.
Question: I clean all my rugs once a year with a pressure washer. Can I clean the viscose rug in the same way? Answer: We have indeed received positive experiential feedback from many customers about cleaning viscose rugs with a pressure washer. According to our customers, the surface of the rug is easy to wash and rinse with gentle water pressure.
However, we consider it important to emphasize that for the best results, we always recommend that both viscose and other types of rugs are cleaned by in professional cleaning services. Regardless of the cleaning method chosen, it is important to know that the properties of the delicate viscose yarn, and therefore the appearance of the rug surface will change during cleaning.
