Narma smartWeave® rugs are suitable for home interiors and for other low traffic indoor spaces.
Both sides of the rug have different patterns and are equally usable.
Weft material of the rug contains 80% cotton and 20% polyester.
Natural cotton of the weft yarn is produced environmentally-friendly from 100% recycled materials.
It is suggested to use carpet underlay METRO on slippery floors.
The rug can be also used in rooms with hydronic underfloor heating.
CARE & CLEANING
smartWeave® rugs are easy to clean.
Vacuum the rug regularly to remove dust and dirt.
Always use plain, no-brush vacuum cleaner nozzle. Brushes or rotating turbo nozzles can wear down or damage the rug surface.
Remove liquid spills as quickly as possible with a paper towel, clean sponge or soft cloth to prevent the liquid from soaking into the rug. Stains can be cleaned with a soft cloth dampened in clean water or neutral soap solution.
Professional cleaning service is recommended.
Lightly soiled rugs can be cleaned with various textile cleaning products (foams, aerosols, etc).
Moderately soiled rugs can be cleaned flat with a textile cleaners (spray extraction washing machine). The dimensions of a carpet washed with a textile cleaner will not change significantly.
Heavily soiled rugs can be professionally washed in water up to 30°C. The first water wash of a cotton rug will cause shrinking up to 10% in width and up to 5% in length, and will also soften the rug fabric.
Water-washed rugs must be rinsed thoroughly and excess water removed before drying.
We recommend stretching the damp rug after washing to achieve a more even shape.
Dry the rug in a warm, ventilated area.
The rug should only be stored in a roll. Folding can cause permanent creasing.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Question: How do I wash smartWeave® rugs? Answer: For lightly soiled rugs, a wide range of general consumer textile cleaning products (foams, aerosols, etc) can be used. It is important to follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully!
For moderately soiled rugs, we recommend using a textile cleaners (spray-extraction washing machine), both at home and in a professional laundry. Please follow carefully the manufacturer's instructions for the cleaning machine and the detergent! If the rug is washed and dried on a flat surface with a textile cleaner, it will retain its basic characteristics, and will only shrinking insignificantly. The rug should be washed on both sides and dried in a warm, ventilated area.
For heavily soiled rugs, professional water washing is allowed in water up to 30°C. Water-washed rugs must be rinsed thoroughly and excess water removed before drying. We recommend stretching the damp rug after washing to achieve a more even shape.
The first water wash of a cotton rug will cause shrinkage of up to 10% in width and up to 5% in length, as well as softening the fabric.
Question: Why is the rug softer and smaller in size after washing it in a professional carpet cleaning company? Answer: smartWeave® rugs are manufactured environmentally-friendly without any chemical or thermal processing. Therefore the cotton rugs shrink in the first water wash just like the other unprocessed textile items made of natural materials. Normally the rug shrinks more in width (up to 10%) than in length (up to 5%), it also becomes slightly softer after the first wash. The edges which are finished with a border usually shrink slightly less than the center of the rug, consequently the bordered edges may become wavy, the unevenness disappears over time. Stretch the damp rug after washing to modify its shape.
Question: Why does the light smartWeave® rug have yellowish marks after spot cleaning? Answer: The raw material of all rugs produced from the white natural cotton yarn is not chemically processed i.e. it is undyed or unbleached. Consequently, during the first washing, some natural tanning substances may be released in addition to the dirt, which may indeed leave drying marks on the surface of the rug due to low rinsing and centrifugation or prolonged drying.
In order to achieve a clean rug surface, it is necessary to wash the rug evenly and rinse very thoroughly after washing until the rinsing water is clean, and finally to remove excess washing water by centrifugation. Drying of the wet rug should take place in a warm environment with alternating air for a short time. Prolonged drying of poorly washed and excessively wet rugs can result in drying marks on rug edges or stains on the surface of the rug. Rewashing can get rid of marks and stains.
Question: Why does the actual colour of the rug differ from the colours indicated in the catalogue and on the website? Answer: The colours of the products in the catalogue and on computer screen are close to actual colours, but may still vary depending on the printing quality and screen settings. It is also quite common that dye lot variations may occur by product batches.
Question: Is it normal that the surface of the new smartWeave® rug is shedding? Answer: Some slight shedding may occur with the brand new chenille rugs. The process is normal for all cut pile rugs made of natural fibers and does not affect the quality of the product in any way. Loose fibers can be removed with a vacuum cleaner. Shedding will decrease gradually.
Question: Why are the edges of the rug laid on a floor not running parallel to the parquet tiles? Answer: All woven textiles, including rugs are prone to some asymmetry which depends on the pattern course, weave type and nature of the weft materials.
Shrinkage and elongation of the fabric can be affected not only by mechanical factors but also by the level of humidity in the room.
All these reasons result in a wide size tolerance range for woven rugs (up to ± 2% for machine-woven and ± 5% for hand-woven rugs).
The weft and warp yarns of the smartWeave® rug have been connected into a strong multilayer fabric with a smart weave during the mechanical weaving process without using any glue or other chemical treatment. Therefore the rugs from such unfixed fabrics are not always right-angled rectangles and may slightly change their shape and size depending on the environment.
The fabric of smartWeave can be carefully stretched in the desired direction to modify the shape of the rug.
Question: I kept the smartWeave® rug folded in the storage room for a few months. Laying it back to the floor, I discovered strong creases in the rug. How can I get rid of them? Answer: We recommend storing all rugs rolled up and in an upright position, as folded rugs may show fold marks. Fold marks may appear on folded rugs, we recommend storing all rugs rolled up and in an upright position.?
However, over time even the strongest folds should flatten out on their own when the smartWeave® rug is laid on the floor. Higher humidity level (for example in summer, or at the end of the heating season) and daily use, during which the “living” weave structure of the rug is slightly affected, will definitely help flatten the creases.
Rolling the rug up one way and then in the opposite direction also helps to level the surface.
For faster results, you can gently moisten the surface of the fabric with light water mist using a spray bottle, then keep the rug rolled on a cardboard tube for a while, for example, so that moisture can soak into the fabric from the surface.
Question: Is it possible to order smartWeave® rugs in custom sizes? Answer: smartWeave® collection rugs are available in standard sizes. Several other rug types can be ordered in custom sizes – hemFree, woolWeave, sisalWeave, softFlat, longRun and multiSpace®.
